The
Card Classics of Ken Krenzel Harry Lorayne
There weren’t as many magic books available
back in 1978 as there are now. But one thing was the same then as it is now -
there weren’t/aren’t many magic books published that contained/contain
really great stuff. Wonderful stuff! Usable stuff! To-die-over stuff! Yes, it was some time back. And if anything can be said to have stood the
test of time, passed the test of time, it can be said of the ideas, effects,
routines, in this book.
They are as fresh and stimulating, as clean and
precise, as intriguing and clever, as exhilarating and important, today as they
were then, and have been through the years. And, you’ll fool (and entertain)
magicians and laymen with them now just as you could have done, or did, back
then. Over eighty items broken down into nine exciting sections. I’ve heard
and read, many times, that there is no better handling and description of the
Classic Pass than there is in Section Seven of this book. Along with eleven
other passes, including the Mechanical Reverse, which has become a standard of
card handling, The K-E Pass (beautiful, and so easy to do), The One-Card Middle
Pass, The Dribble Pass, and more. The Eerie Spin-Out which, if you’ll forgive
a rusty platitude, is worth the price of the book even if you paid five times
the established price. As I say in my Last Word, you’ll use it for the rest
of your life; there’s no way you can put a price on it. You’ll find
easy-to-do sleights like The Natural Double Lift, The Pressure Hideout, The
Invisible Reverse Transfer. The One-Card Double Lift is an exquisite fooler. So
is The Optical Sandwich, The Miracle Multiple Peek and, oh - The Magic Bullet!
There’s One-Hand Stop - the spectator ‘stops’ at his own card, The
Impromptu Haunted Deck and The Front Tilt - and Force-Eps, The Fan Steal, The
Squeeze Steal, The Broadside Steal. Do you like to practice? Well, Section
Eight includes Bottom, Center, and Second Deals - Ken’s handling, my teaching
(if that means anything to you). I’ve added my two or three cents with an idea
or two of my own and with my inevitable Afterthoughts.
I could go on and on, but
I won’t. I’ve had so many calls, requests, for this book through the years,
but it wasn't available. Aren’t you lucky - it is now!
Big Laughs for Little People

And you'll find his original effects such as Headband Blendo, all updated from the first edition of Big Laughs for Little People with the latest improvements for the 21st century!

Of Ascanio Vol.2 - Studies Of Card Magic
by Arturo Ascanio
The Magic of Ascanio offers you, in four volumes, the complete work
of the Maestro who changed the direction of magic in Spain and influenced many
successful performers. Learn all about the legacy of a true master of our art:
his ground-breaking theories, his legendary card routines and sleights, and his
magic with pocket knives.
Studies of Card Magic
This second volume, with forewords by Roberto Giobbi and Aurelio Paviato,
contains an exhaustive study of the Ascanio Spread and its variants, and all the
lay-downs. These sleights, the cornerstones of Ascanio’s magic, have never been
explained so thoroughly before. Careful study of this section alone will give
you a complete understanding of these marvelous sleights.
Get ready for the pleasant journey of studying the early versions of Ascanio’s
classics. Oil and Water using the Ascanio Spread (a three-phase routine) and
Father Ace and Sons (versions 66 and 67) will take you into the wonderful world
of Ascanio's routining. See the theory in action, with examples of concepts
explained in the first volume, such as the Parenthesis of Forgetfulness, the
Anti-Contrasting Parenthesis, Stressing the Initial Situation, Slow Execution,
misdirection, and the In-Transit Actions.
The next three chapters include magic by Ascanio's mentors, Kaps and Carles, by
his colleagues Dany Ray and Fu Manchu, and by one of his idols in magic: Ed
Marlo, all with the Ascanio treatment. This section contains tricks shown to
Ascanio by these great masters.
Chapter Seven includes Ascanio’s favorite routines: If You Don’t Pay Attention…,
Aunt Enriqueta’s Aces, The Trick I Would Show Dai Vernon, Sleightless Oil and
Water (or so it seems), and Aces with Love.
In Chapter Eight two other Ascanio favorites are described: The Wriggling Aces
and Don’t Blink! Revisited. The Trick I Would Show Dai Vernon is a lesson on
Conditioned Naturalness, and The Wriggling Aces was part of his winning act at
FISM in Amsterdam 1970.
Chapter Nine includes two Ascanian classics: A Baroque Transposition and The
Mechanical Strength of Thought.
Chapter Ten finally brings you some of Ascanio's minor masterpieces such as:
Dolores’s Trick, The Pathology of Cards, X - 1 = 0, Triumph, Eight-Card Oil and
Water, The Nine Facts, Antagonistic Aces, and A Hunger for Dreaming.

The Magic of
Ascanio Book Vol. 4 Knives and Color Blindness by Arturo Ascanio
Arturo
de Ascanio y Navaz (1926-1997), is regarded as the father of Spanish
card magic. A lawyer by trade and an amateur magician, he devoted a
good part of his life to magic and was one of the founders of the
prestigious Escuela Mágica de Madrid.
The Structural Conception of Magic, which is the first volume of The
Magic of Ascanio, is devoted to his theoretical thinking. Studies of
Card Magic and More Studies of Card Magic include all of his card
creations, while the fourth volume Knives and Color-Blindness is a
treatise on magic with pocket knives.
Fourth Volume
Knives and Color-Blindness is not just a repertoire of sleights and
routines. Above all, it encapsulates an extraordinary philosophy of
magic, in which the love for detail, for naturalness and psychology
alike, are given as much importance as technical skill. Ascanio’s
remarkable in-depth study of the psychological aspects of the
“Paddle Move” and the “color change” with knives is a fundamental
contribution to the magic of the color-changing knives. Arturo de
Ascanio shows two specific qualities that very seldom go together:
he is an extremely clear writer and also an excellent performer of
sleight-of-hand. You will no doubt find that Ascanio is very good at
writing about what he knows, and knows very well what he is writing
about.
