Color me a Hat

Magicians traditionally produce Rabbits from Top Hats, and Rabbits are traditionally white and Top Hats are black, or that is the way it used to be. Today fashion demands a little more color, and even Top Hats come in designer shades of black and red and blue and gold !

This is a nice and colorful routine for Kid show performers, with easy to carry pack flat props. The performer displays a window envelope, with the picture of a Rabbit in an outline Top Hat, which has no color. The spectators are invited to select a color for the Top Hat from a chart of different shades. When the picture is again displayed, the Top Hat is magically colored in the selected color, and the picture can be handed out for examination. And the selected Hat in the shade card has been magically replaced by a colorless outline one.

These are two clever props, blended into a nice routine. You could ofcourse color the hat without using the card, just ask the kids to call out their favorite color ! And you could use the card to force a color for any effect. Attractively screened on Art Board, you get everything you need, with detailed instructions.

Flash Silk Dye " Happy Birthday"

The performer displays a black silk (approx. 18"), printed with a design in white, (like a photograph negative). The silk is displayed clearly and completely on both sides, stretched flat between the hands.

He now asks a volunteer spectator, (the Birthday child, for the Happy Birthday Silk design) to toss up some colored confetti into the air, to help color the silk. The performer shakes the silk in the cascading confetti, and the silks is found to be completely colored in many bright attractive colors. It is again displayed clearly, stretched flat between the hands on both sides.

The effect can also be performed in reverse, though it would be a rare routine that requires all the pretty colors to vanish - this works just like our Chameleon Rainbow & Flag Streamers, with a picture silk. Complete and ready to use, with instructions.

Adair's 1000 Birthday Paper Tear

One of those themed paper tears that are so popular with magicians. This one from the fertile mind of Ian Adair will be a hit at any Birthday Party show.

The effect and presentation are best detailed in Ian's own words below.

"Performer displays a strip of wide paper with numbering as follows: 1 0 0 0
He tells the children that the birthday child is celebrating his/her birthday today and (display paper strip) he's 1000 years of age. The children laugh. He's not. oh dear (performer rips off a zero (0) at the end.. sorry, the birthday boy is 100 years of age today, that's right, isn't it ?
It's not! Oh Dear! (he rips off another zero (0). That's it.. he's 10 years of age today (most kids parties are 3 up to nine). He's not.. oh dear, I'm getting it all wrong.. (rips off another zero) - I've got it right this time, he's 1 year of age today (the children laugh really loud.. cause..he must be a little baby!).
He's not 1 year old, (all pieces are bundled together and restored ala regular strip paper tears). I know what age he is.. he's seven years of age, and let's wish him a Happy Birthday (Which is now the message on the restored strip)! "

A magic and math Kid Show hit.

Great for school shows and birthday parties & Now Christmas

The Magician asks who would like to be a magician when they get older. The Kids scream and yell me me me! The magician tells the kids they better be good at math and study because if you want to be a good Magician you need good math. Who's good at math?

A volunteer is asked to come up and help and see if they have what it takes to be a magician. The volunteer is asked to help by picking a number. The volunteer is asked to do some very simple arithmetic and the result is a new number.

The volunteer is given a large book full of colourful pictures of different cartoon character animals with numbers beside each animal. The volunteers' number is found and the animal beside it is remembered and not revealed.

A small book with only pictures of different animals in it is given to the volunteer. He/she is requested to find the picture they had seen in the large book.

The audience is then informed that before the show you had a feeling about a certain animal card that was placed in an envelope, which is shown to the audience. The volunteer is then asked to reveal the animal they selected. The envelope is opened and the picture is removed.

A perfect match every time.
